BLAEK Store & Seabin Talk Trash for Dad’s Day - An Ocean Cleanup Activation
Who’s your Daddy? At business for good, BLAEK Store this Father’s Day week we want to get to know him, teach him all about the incredible work Seabin are doing to clean up Sydney Harbour and give him a chance to win a sustainable prize pack just for talking a little trash. It’s an activation in a retail store with a purposeful difference!
Kicking off August 27th, 9am at BLAEK Store, Manly and running until September 4th at 9am we’ll have a real life plastic sucking Seabin on display with some plastic it’s removed from Sydney Harbour. We’ll ask you or your Dad to guess the weight of the Seabin catch and whoever is closest by 9am on Father’s Day WINS. One lucky Dad will walk away with 5 pairs of boxer shorts from Rear Endz, a Patagonia ‘Dad’ cap, 2 pairs of Nudie Jeans Co. socks and some face moisturizer from Seashanty Organics. This Dad gift pack will give your Father figure everything he needs to look good, feel good and also do good for the planet while being the best Dad in the world.
‘For me, being a Dad extends beyond the huge love I feel for my 3 year old boy Dion. It drives me to work harder everyday to make sure he has the best chance to experience our planet as I have.
I want to work hard for his future but also for all the children on the planet. Every night I tuck Dion into bed, we both repeat ‘I can do anything’ and BLAEK Store and our partnership through 1% For The Planet with Seabin are two things I can do to create a better future for our kids’ planet.
BLAEK Store is a space where I can do anything! I choose to do good and set an example to other retail concepts as the future of retail.’
- Tom Batrouney, Dad, Co Founder, BLAEK Store
Who are BLAEK Store?
‘Black’ Store. A thoughtful retail space offering responsible, ethical & organic clothing, homewares & daily essentials by mindful designers from around the world. We are working to close the loop in the retail space by repairing purchased clothing, recycling traditionally tough-to-recycles such as toothbrushes and toothpaste tubes or any type of clothing and this is just the tip of the iceberg!
Based in Manly on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Australia and shipping worldwide (with love) direct to your door.
Who are Seabin?
Our mission statement is simple: To live in a world without the need for Seabins.
It may seem like a contradiction but at the end of the day, marine litter should not be in the water in the first place.
The idea was if there were rubbish bins on land, why not in the water? Over time, the scope of the project evolved into a comprehensive research, technology, and educational initiative with global interest and reach.
The world’s marinas, ports and yacht clubs are the perfect place to start helping clean our oceans. With no huge open ocean swells or storms inside the marinas, these relatively controlled environments provide the perfect locations for Seabin installations.
