WHO ARE 1% FOR THE PLANET?

1% For The Planet was started by Patagonia Founder, Yvon Chouinard and fishing buddy Craig Mathews.

It is a global movement inspiring businesses and individuals to support highly vetted, environmental solutions by donating 1% of their annual sales or annual salary. In the last 15 years, Patagonia alone have donated over $150 million to not-for-profit environmental groups.

Not-for-profits are the lifeblood of environmental activism because they are not governed or influenced by the need or desire to make money. Their only 'client' is the planet and they are free to come up with whatever radical ideas they wish in order to please that client. 

HOW BLAEK STORE PARTNERS WITH 1% FOR THE PLANET

At BLAEK Store, we believe that pledging minimum 1% of our total annual sales (not profit but sales) is possible for all businesses. Not only is it possible, but as every business relies on the Earth's resources to do business it only makes sense that we should all give back.

It's the epitome of everyone pitching in and spreading the financial burden often associated with, but not spoken about, donations.

At BLAEK Store we currently donate our 1% For The Planet to a number of environmental and social not-for-profits including the Seabin Foundation, the not-for-profit arm of the Seabin Project and we are proud to support the work they do for cleaner oceans.
